Black Friday is almost upon us, and here is our must read survival guide full of tips to help you make the best of Black Friday.
Here’s our survival guide:
1. Check the Web for coupon codes: Sites like Retailmenot.com compile mostly reader-submitted coupon codes for nearly every retailer imaginable (boasting over one million coupons for over 100,000 stores). The site has a dedicated Black Friday page, as well.
2. Google It: A simple online search for “Black Friday Deals,” turns up a myriad of webpages that are solely about Black Friday. One of them, BFads.net (short for Black Friday Ads) has a news page updated with the latest deals from major stores as they are posted. And, they’ve created an iPhone App that allows you to see a list of ads for certain retailers, view the news from BFads’s site, and create a shopping list of your own.
3. Go Directly to the Source: If you don’t need an all encompassing list of every store in the universe—you just know you want to see the Black Friday deals for specific retailers, checking those store’s frequently is a good idea.
4. Comparison Shop With Your Gadgets. Your smartphone can help you comparison shop with the touch of a button. Download price check apps like Smoopa (on Android) which scans barcodes on products while you are in the store, and lets you know who’s got it cheapest, or focus strictly on Black Friday—with an app like DealCatcher —which—like BFads’s app—also shows you the latest ads, and lets you build a shopping list.
