Comparative Garden Tomato Tasting at Bayfair Farmers’ Market
COMPARATIVE GARDEN TOMATO TASTING AT BAYFAIR CENTER FARMERS’ MARKET ADDS FLAVOR TO SUMMER ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 19
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. – (August 3, 2006) Bayfair Center and Bayfair Farmers’ Market celebrate the flavors of summer with Comparative Garden Tomato Tasting Saturday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free to the public, families are invited to come out to taste and compare farm fresh heirloom variety tomatoes. From Amana Orange to Peacevine Cherry, this side-by-side tasting will provide the perfect opportunity to identify the different flavors and choose favorites.
Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., local organic and specialty farmers fill the Bayfair Center parking lot to sell their produce directly to the public. Specialties of the season include sweet white corn picked in the morning in Brentwood, just in time for your holiday picnics and barbeques. Other summer favorites are peaches, plums and nectarines from the San Joaquin Valley, fresh cut flowers, ranch eggs, artisan cheese, baked goods, honey, a variety of specialty food items and much more.
Bayfair Center’s Certified Farmers’ Market is a location approved by the County Agricultural commissioner where farmers sell fruits and vegetables they grow themselves. Bayfair Center’s Certified Farmers’ Market is a project of the California Farmers’ Markets Association (CFMA), a non-profit organization, providing certified farmers’ markets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bayfair is a traditional mix, enclosed, full service shopping center designed to serve the diverse communities surrounding the center’s East Bay location. Currently, Bayfair offers 820,000 square feet of retail space consisting of more than 45 stores including two restaurants and a 16-screen Century Theater.
