Good Will Electronics Waste Drop-Off
BAYFAIR CENTER TO HOST GOODWILL INDUSTRIES ELECTRONICS WASTE DROP-OFF JULY 14-15
SAN LEANDRO, CALIF. – (June 26, 2006) If you have been wondering what to do with your old or broken television or computer then look no further than the upcoming free electronics waste drop-off at Bayfair Center Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15. Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay will host this free electronics waste drop-off at Bayfair Center for East Bay residents to dispose of electronic waste that can’t be put in the regular trash.
"Goodwill’s e-waste recycling program allows community members to dispose of their computer monitors, CPUs and TVs while at the same time giving back to the community," said President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay, Inc. John B. Latchford, referring to the fact that the funds realized from the recycling efforts go directly back to help those in need of job training and placement. "This e-waste event at Bayfair Center is a great way for people to dispose of their e-waste properly, help others, as well as take positive steps toward protecting our environment from hazardous waste."
Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay will collect old, broken or used electronics (not appliances) such as: computer monitors, televisions, laptops, computer parts and accessories, towers and desktop hard drives, CD ROM drives, loose PC boards, cables and disks. Individuals, schools and businesses are all welcome to drop off their electronic waste, which Goodwill Industries will then take to a recycler. The recycler will pay Goodwill Industries for each piece of equipment it receives from the drive. All proceeds from the electronics recycling will benefit Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay.
The electronics waste drop off will take place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15. The drop off site will be located in Bayfair Center’s southern-most parking lot along East 14th Street in San Leandro, Calif.
