HOLIDAY SKATING RINK AT BAYFAIR
CENTER OPEN NOV. 25 – JAN. 1
Skate to Benefit Davis Street Family Resource Center Nov. 25 – Dec. 1
SAN LEANDRO, CA – (October 27, 2005) For the first time in San Leandro, children and adults can skate in a mall. This holiday season, Bayfair Center will erect a holiday skating rink for local residents, community members and shoppers. Bayfair Center will provide discounted skating tickets to those who donate non-perishable food items to Davis Street Family Resource Center between Friday, November 25 and Sunday, November 27.
Made of a synthetic EZ glide material, ice skating enthusiasts and beginners alike can enjoy the sport of ice skating without the cold that comes with a traditional ice rink. A fun alternative to the traditional rink, experienced skaters can perform the same moves on synthetic ice while novice skaters enjoy the safety benefits of a softer surface.
The Bayfair Center Holiday Skating Rink will be open on Friday, November 25, with public skating from 12 – 8:30 p.m. Following is the skating schedule:
Friday, November 25 - Thursday, December 15:
- Monday through Thursday, from 12 - 8 p.m.
- Skating lessons, from 12 - 5 p.m.

Open to the public, a three-hour skating session or lesson including skate rental will cost $5 per person, for adults and children ages three and older. The rink will be located in the center court of Bayfair Center.
Beginning Saturday, November 5, Bayfair Center will host a food drive to benefit the Davis Street Family Resource Center. Collection bins will be stationed around the holiday skating rink and at the San Leandro Farmers’ Market at Bayfair Center. The Davis Street Family Resource Center will use these donations to create holiday gift baskets for more than 1,000 families. The baskets will include all the ingredients needed to make a holiday dinner and will come with toy bags for the children.
Community members are encouraged to drop off donations in the form of new toys and non-perishable food items in the bins at Bayfair Center. Those who bring in cans between Friday, November 25 and Sunday, November 27 will receive a voucher for $1 off a skating session at Bayfair Center’s Holiday Skating Rink.
