SAN LEANDRO, CA – (June 21, 2005) Bayfair Center and the Bayfair Farmers’ Market will kick off the Fourth of July Weekend on Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to Noon, with a festive community party. Free to the public, families are invited to enjoy live music, a cooking demonstration and a decorated stroller and tricycle parade where the best decoration will go home with a $50 cash prize. Registration for this event begins at 9:30 a.m. In addition, children will enjoy balloon making, clowns and a jump house. Adults and children of all ages are invited to join in the fun and taste red, white & blue sundaes made with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., local organic and specialty farmers fill the Bayfair Center parking lot to sell their produce directly to the public. Specialties of the season include super sweet white corn picked in the morning in Brentwood, just in time for your holiday picnics and barbeques. Other holiday favorites are peaches, plums and nectarines from the San Joaquin Valley, garden heirloom tomatoes, fresh cut flowers, ranch eggs, artisan cheese, baked goods, honey, a variety of specialty food items and much more.
The Farmers’ Market Fourth of July Celebration is just one of the free activities hosted during Bayfair’s summer long celebration of events, which includes monthly story time readings, new store openings, pet adoptions and more.
Bayfair Center’s Certified Farmers’ Market is a location approved by the County Agricultural commissioner where farmers offer for sales only those fruits and vegetables they grow themselves. Bayfair Center’s Certified Farmers’ Market is a project of the California Farmers’ Markets Association (CFMA), a non-profit organization, providing certified farmers’ markets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
