10-Year Anniversary Celebration on June 11 – Live Music, Giveaways and Fun For the Kids
SAN LEANDRO, CA -- (May 26, 2005) On June 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bayfair Center and the California Farmers’ Markets Association will host a community-wide celebration to commemorate ten years of the Bayfair Certified Farmers’ Market serving the community with fresh fruits, vegetables, specialty foods and more. This festive day will feature fresh fruit giveaways, prizes, live music and several interactive activities especially for children. Attendees will also enjoy seasonal tastings, recipes and informational presentations from local farmers.
The Farmers’ Market Anniversary Celebration kicks-off Bayfair’s Summer of Celebration Events including a host of community events, new store openings and story time readings. Residents are encouraged to bring old family photographs featuring memories at Bayfair to the center court to receive a complimentary commemorative photo key chain on June 11, from 10 a.m. to noon. Once collected, the photographs will be displayed within the center as part of Bayfair’s community photo display.
For the past ten years, every Saturday, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., local organic and specialty farmers fill the Bayfair Center parking lot to sell their produce directly to the public. The market features a variety of fresh items including organic and freshly picked fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, ranch eggs, artisan foods, baked goods, honey, a variety of specialty food items and much more. Be sure to catch the Bayfair Farmers’ Market in its new location in the parking lot between Macy’s and Kohl’s, along East 14th Street.
All of the seasonal fresh produce featured is sold directly from small family-operated, specialty and organic farms residing in the rich agricultural communities surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area. The Bayfair Center Farmers’ Market is a certified farmers’ market and a project of the California Farmers’ Markets Association, a non-profit organization that provides certified farmers’ markets where farmers sell produce they have grown directly to the public.
Bayfair is a traditional mix, enclosed, full service shopping center designed to serve the diverse communities surrounding the center’s East Bay location.Currently, Bayfair offers 820,000 square feet of retail space consisting of more than 60 shops, two restaurants and a 16-screen Century Theater.
